At the end of May, our General Manager for Europe, Dr. Emma Saunders, was invited to 10 Downing Street for the EU-UK Business Reception.

The reception marked the EU-UK Summit, an event focused on strengthening collaboration and rebuilding economic ties between the UK and the European Union post-Brexit.
Speaking on the event, Emma said: “I’m honoured to have been invited and it was a privilege to join fellow business leaders, innovators, and policymakers to discuss power of partnership and the opportunities that come when we work together across borders.

“As a significant exporter to the EU, it was encouraging to see a renewed emphasis on breaking down some of the trade barriers that have impacted businesses since the UK’s departure from the bloc. The reception brought together government representatives, industry leaders, and key stakeholders to discuss practical ways to simplify regulatory alignment, reduce friction at borders, and support mutual growth.
“One of the key outcomes of the summit was a commitment to deeper regulatory cooperation in science and innovation – a particularly welcome development for Genesis Biosciences, given our ongoing investment in sustainable biotechnology and cross-border R&D. There was also discussion around reducing delays and administrative burdens for goods moving between the UK and EU, which could have a direct positive impact on our supply chain efficiency.
“The event was a positive step towards rebuilding a more collaborative trading relationship with the EU, and it was encouraging to see businesses like ours recognised as vital contributors to that effort.”
